CHRIS UPTON

Chris Upton

Chris has a career steeped in Information and Communication Technology. She achieved a BA in Mathematics and Economics from the Open University in 1983 and has earlier qualifications in Hotel and Catering Management plus Certificates, Higher Certificates and Diploma A in Wines and Spirits. She also holds a Teaching Qualification for post 16 education and a post graduate certificate in Education Management.

Chris worked as Head of Faculty and then Assistant Principal at Hull College from 1993 to 2003 when she opted for early retirement. It was during this time that she was appointed to a sub-committee of the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) which aims to provide world-class leadership in the innovative use of ICT to support education and research. Chris was also appointed to the Chair of the Regional group of the National Information Learning Technology Association (NILTA) The national body to advise further education colleges about the use of information technology.

Since retiring from her first career in Education and Training in 2003 Chris has developed a number of web sites for small businesses in and around Scunthorpe and Grimsby. The portfolio has grown organically through word of mouth and Chris offers these clients a mix of graphic design, web site development, hosting and ongoing support. With her background in education and training she is even prepared to teach clients how to maintain and operate their own web sites. We are now also venturing in to web site hosting for clients who wholly develop their own sites but who need somewhere to launch them from.
